On Thursday 24th September, in Barnhall RFC, the Coláiste Chiaráin Junior Rugby team competed in pre-season friendly matches against local rivals Confey College and Salesian College. The weather was perfect and Coláiste Chiaráin dominated both matches showing some amount of skill, playing a fast paced style of rugby.  Lead by Captain Daniel Ecock, Coláiste Chiaráin outscored Confey College five tries to one, with Daniel Ecock running in for three tries with one try a piece for Cian Lawlor and Callum Ledwidge. The final score was 27-7. The second match was a similar story with Coláiste Chiaráin scoring five tries to Salesian’s two. Darren McDermott, playing his first rugby match performed admirably, showing some pace for a second row to score the first try of the match. Daniel Ecock, Cian Lawlor, Jack Madden and Callum Ledwidge also crossed the line. The forwards also deserve great praise for their endeavour in the breakdown and set piece prowess. Well done lads!
