Newgrange
Activity week continued for the Transition Year class with a trip to Newgrange and the Hill of Tara. The monument was constructed over 5000 years ago but was more recently rediscovered in 1699 when local workmen began removing stones from the site for refurbishment to local properties.
The class enjoyed a guided tour of the site and were allowed to enter the passage area where a reenactment using artificial light of the scene as sun light enters and illuminates the passage during winter solstice.
