Forty 5th Year and TY students accompanied by five teachers enjoyed a very interesting and fun tour to Rome and Pompeii during the autumn mid-term just passed. Highlights included guided tours of the Vatican Museum, including the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica and the Colosseum. There were also impromptu visits to Piazza Navonne and the Pantheon and evening walks to the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain, where none neglected to throw in a coin to ensure a return visit to ‘the eternal city’. A unexpected treat awaited at the Pantheon where a scene from a new movie starring Adrien Briody was being filmed. The females in the party found it very diverting anyway! I wonder why? The tour of Pompeii was fascinating inspite of the heavy rain which failed to dampen the spirits and humour of all. Apart from being a very enlightening tour, it was also a very safe and good humoured one. Thanks to all involved for that!
