3rd Years visit Kilmainham Gaol

Third year students visited Kilmainham Gaol today. The jail has housed some of the most famous and indeed infamous characters in Irish history. It played a key role in the revolutionary period from 1916-23.
We were fortunate enough to have a very entertaining and knowledgeable guide who expertly outlined the brutal conditions in the prison as well as detailing the often gruesome demise of its inmates notably Padraic Pearse & James Connolly in the aftermath of The Easter Rising.
