An Ghaelbhratach

Coláiste Chiaráin’s Gaelbhratach committee was awarded a Gaelbhratach on Tuesday last in a ceremony in Leopardstown. The flag is awarded by Gael Linn to schools who “create and encourage a culture of speaking Irish informally within the school community and beyond”.

During academic year 2018/2019, the committee, made up of a group of first and second year students, ran a number of events to promote the use of Irish in the school community. In December, the first years took part in a Ceolchoirm Nollag. There was a whole-school siúlóid in January during Smile Week and just before Easter, the Lá Spóirt was also used as an opportunity for staff and students to use their cúpla focal.

Throughout the course of the programme, the committee were assisted by Edel Ní Bhraonáin of Gael Linn, as well as their múinteoirí Gaeilge.

We congratulate the Coiste Gaelbhratach on all their hard work and look forward to their continued efforts to encourage the use of the Irish language within Coláiste Chiaráin and beyond.
