Pride in our Students Competing at International Level

In Coláiste Chiaráin we are very proud of all our students who perform and compete at international level. We recognise their focus, diligence and attainment. It is wonderful that these students are performing at such high levels internationally while continuing to apply themselves academically.  Well done to you all, keep up the amazing work!

Ciara Saunders has played nationally and internationally on Ireland’s U21s

Women’s Canoe Polo team for the past 4 years. She has travelled to various

countries for competitions, such as the Canoe Polo World Championships in Sicily

Ciara Bracken is currently in her fourth year of representing Ireland for basketball,

she has played at under 15, under 16 and now at under 18 level. She has

represented in 9 foreign countries including Macedonia in 2017 for the European


Cian Tiernan is playing with the Irish U16 basketball team. Cian plays his club

basketball with Liffey Celtics Basketball Club

Ciarán Connolly, a sixth year student, competed for his school and his country in

the International High Jump SIAB Championships. He continued on to compete again

with the Irish Team in the Celtic Championships, where he was awarded silver in

both events. Ciarán now focuses on achieving the qualifying standard for the

European Championships in the coming year.

Ronan Foley enrolled in Colaiste Chiarain this year as a Leaving Certificate student.

He is an elite kayaker who has made and represented the Irish National Team

multiple times abroad.

The season of 2018 was a very special one for Ronan., His achievements included:

Irish National Marathon Champion. Multiple Irish National Sprint Champion. Double

World Cup Gold Medallist.

Junior European Marathon Champion. World Championships Silver Medallist.

Caoimhe Masterson has been representing Ireland in basketball for the past 3

years. She was on the U16 development squad one year ago and is currently on the

U16 Irish squad for her age group now.

Conor Walsh represented Ireland in basketball at the European u16 Championships

and is currently on the u17 Irish team.

Fatimah Akorede has been representing Ireland with basketball for the past 3 years.

Last year, she travelled to Serbia to represent the school and Ireland in the 3v3 world

Schools championships. She also participated in the U16 European Championships

with her Irish Team in Montenegro last August. She is currently on the U17 Irish

Basketball squad.

Tiernan Howe is a member of the Irish under 18 men’s basketball squad and

represented Ireland in Bulgaria in the under 16 European Championship

Hannah Sylvester has competed at Irish Dancing World Championship for the past

6 years, recalling and placing at top level, internationally

Ciara Mulleady is currently on the U17 Irish basketball team. She has previously

represented Ireland at U15 level.

Killian Geraghty came 2 nd in the World Boxing Championship for Youths in the 60kg

weight category in Italy. He has represented his country over 20 times in places such

as Russia, Italy, Ukraine, Belarus, France and Spain

Nelson Fotso plays on the U16 basketball team. He is in preseason training at the

moment preparing for tournaments in Belarus in December. He is very proud to

represent Ireland.

Mollie Dagg plays GAA handball at an international level. She has won a total of 5

world titles, 4 silver medals and 3 world championships (Ireland, Calgary and

Minnesota). She has also won a number of All Ireland’s, representing Leixlip, Kildare

and Leinster
