Discipline and Student Care
The members of our school community commit themselves to
- Respect for self and others
- Respect for the property of others
- Respect for the environment in which we live
Our first school regulation requires each student to treat all staff and fellow students with respect.
Respecting Self And Others Includes
Recognising the rights of others e.g.
- The right to grow as a responsible person
- The right parents have to expect good results
- The right the teacher has to do her/his work without having to constantly correct for inattention.
- The right each member of the class has to learn: therefore the class should not be disturbed nor anyone deprived of that right.
The school chaplain is closely linked to the pastoral care in the school. The chaplain is available to help, encourage and support the school community.
Teachers and Parents
The teachers of Colaiste Chiarain base their work on the philosophy that each student is directed and helped to become the best person she/he is capable of becoming. In order to undertake this task the teachers need the help and co-operation of the parents at all times. The following rules have been formulated, so that parents, teachers and students can work together for the spiritual, intellectual, cultural and physical education of the young person. Problems arising concerning school should be discussed in a spirit of confidence and trust. Parents are always welcome to consult with the Principal, Deputy Principal, Year Heads and Teachers concerning their children and their co-operation is very much appreciated.
